VPN is blocked | A friend of mine has been trying to get a VPN going between his home PC and works NT server. When customer support is called, they respond saying that LANs aren't supported. A VPN isn't a LAN, it just allows you to make a connection via the internet to another computer and then act as a node on a network through the internet. Grey area? Th rep also said that VPN may be blocked. If that's the case then why aren't FTP and WWW server's blocked too? | 08/23/1999 | Fact! NETBIOS is completely blocked from the service for security reasons. |
A DS3 is going to be installed | The long term strategy of Bresnan's at home franchise Excite @home is to have a DS3 installed in the Madison area. While that does take time, they are adding more T1's to speed up the network a bit. (DS3* =3 T3's=9 T1's=45Mb/sec) | Uknown
More bandwith will be added by 08/18/1999 | According to @home customer support (08/08/1999) more bandwith will be installed middle of next week (08/18/1999) | 08/18/1999 | Fact! |
NBTSTAT is blocked | I was playing around with NBTSTAT on 08/22/1999 and couldn't resolve hosts that people on DSL could resolve. Obviously this isn't a DSL vs Cable thing, but does @home block NBTSTAT? | Fact! See reason for VPN |

DCC transmissions block with irc.home.com IRC server | While determining if 98's NBTSTAT was different then 95's NBTSTAT, I had a friend attempt to DCC it to me. Repeatedly it denied the transfer for me. | Unknown
